Versace Menswear FW2013

Versace was all about skin, skin and more skin this season!
Usually I find brands that don't design for the season the show is showing for a bit irritating (there was lace for Fall/Winter), but since Donatella did so amazing for the usually blah menswear category, I'll let it slide ;)
The show started with conservative looks that had the ever-present Versace twist on them.

but as the show progressed, it got crazier and crazier...

Happy Birthday Carolina Herrera!

So if you can't tell by the title, it's Carolina Herrera's birthday!
She's turning 74 today (and she still looks so good)!
Moving from Venezuela and having designed for notable people like Jackie O and Michelle Obama, Carolina is one powerful woman.
the woman, herself

For this reason, I wanted to take a look back at some of her designs throughout her career...

Topman Design AW2013

London Collections: Men has just started! It's (almost) a week long event of menswear shows in London (no surprise there).
Topman Design's AW2013 show was striking.
They introduced trends from the 90s and integrated them seamlessly in the show which were complimented by the other usual wintery garments.

Camel is back! Although the "camel" color starts off in the show as more of a vanilla (as with the photo below), it transitions into a more yellow color resulting in camel.
The collar of this coat is so dramatic
Pr-Pr-PRINTED COATS!!
I love this sweater even though I never wear orange
but I could definitely work this.
Also, can anyone else see an "om" symbol in the print?
In the 90s, monochrome outfits were huge! Matching your shoes to your purse to your jacket meant you were trendy to the MAX! Well, it's coming back. Monochrome has been on it's way back in trend but I've never seen it in a fashion show like this before.
Leather pants are divine
So this season for Topman Design, as a whole, was pretty nostalgic. I'm pleased that 90s trends are coming back (I'm a huge fan of the 1990s).

What I Wore: New Year's Eve!

I've never really dressed up for New Year's Eve before, but this year I wanted to be pretty flashy, so flashy I was! I didn't intend to go home for the New Year and was basically going to spend it all alone (how depressing) but last minute, I changed my mind and made the drive.

I met up with some friends and we headed over to another friend's house where we played games and brought in the New Year! Happy 2013 everyone!

Styling the American Apparel Easy Jean

American Apparel has a series of high-waisted styles and one of their most popular pick is the Easy Jean. This style comes in 11 colours and is a bit pricey at $72 but it's totally worth it. They smooth out your body and lift your butt (I'm not kidding). Everything looks perfect in these jeans. Can you tell I'm in love?
So, because these are pretty popular I wanted to give some ways of how to wear them. These looks would cross-over to any gender, as I dress pretty androgynous anyways.

Trend Report: Stripes

So seasons are starting to change and trends are starting to transform.

ALL ABOARD THE TREND TRAIN, NEXT STOP: Stripes!
I wanted to show how stripes are being used on the runways and then show you how to incorporate stripes into your wardrobe if you're on a budget. Let's get going!
So first off, I don't know if any of you remember but awhile back Anna Dello Russo (editor-at-large of Vogue Japan and full-time fashionista) did a collaboration with H&M. As part of that collection, she took over H&M's twitter account to answer questions and I asked her what she thought some upcoming trends were going to be.

She was RIGHT! (no surprise there)

You can see stripes in high fashion numerous times too! The runways were littered with stripes!

H&M Opening and Margiela Collab

So I live in Austin, Texas and we recently got an H&M (November 17th)!
There are a couple in Houston and Dallas but, believe it or not, there has never been one in Austin!

I was so pumped for its opening that I got there at 10 p.m. The store didn't open until noon the next day....that was 14 hours of waiting (and 2 attempted hours of sleeping in 39 degree weather). I thought I would be fine wearing tights underneath my jeans and a fur coat but BOY WAS I WRONG. It was so cold.

Here are some photos I took from my spot in line...
As always, click on the photos to enlarge them

The first people had been waiting since 5:30 p.m.

We got a red carpet! oooh la la

panorama of the store

me sitting on the carpet pretending to be happy while I was freezing cold

My friend, Juliana, has the hologram circle bag, it's hella cute in person

one of the mannequins from the other side of the store

wooooooo here was the line just on my side of the building (yes, it wrapped all the way around and sorry for the break in the middle my bad)

patiently waiting, survived 39 degree weather

this was to insure that I got a gift card...

Margiela for H&M window!

H&M was being generous and bussing people from the University of Texas campus to the store ALL DAY

LOOK! I got $50 to use on my purchases!
Speaking of purchases, check out what I got down below

Margiela for H&M 'Invisible Belt'

Margiela for H&M 'Candy Clutch'

Margiela for H&M 'Oversized Keychain Necklace'

Margiela for H&M 'Disco Pants' (I love these leggings so much, they complete me)

If you can't tell, I only went for the Margiela collection which was the reason why I waited outside for so long. I was terrified of things selling out but apparently nobody in Texas knows what Margiela is. Both people on the sides of me in line were confused when I mentioned the line and asked me to explain (I'm sorry what!!) I couldn't understand why people would wait at a store overnight just for the gift card. The first 500 people in line were given scratch offs that ranged from $10 - $500 and the first 100 people, which included me, were given goodie bags with things like a shirt and a toiletry bag. Thanks H&M! :*

Have you ever been to an H&M launch? What did you think about the Margiela collection?? Leave a comment below
