Rick Owens SS 2014 (and why it's possibly the most progressive show of the decade)

Rick Owens, in a single show, used more ethnic models than Paris Fashion Week has ever seen before. This wasn't your usual fashion runway, this was a step performance presentation with the step team members modeling the clothes. This was iconic. This was legendary.

The models were comprised of 3 step teams performing as one. I think it's so adorable to see how excited they were for the show (below) and then to see the transition into the faces they had on the runway. The ethnic diversity and lack of size 0 models made this show jarring and was just the fresh air that the fashion industry needed.

Scroll all the way to the end to see the performance!

I wasn't a huge fan of the shoes, they're a bit bulky

buckle up for the performance!

Trend Report: Messy Hair at #PFW

Paris Fashion Week ended today with Lie Sang Bong's show as the closer. One thing I kept noticing in the shows during both Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week were messy hair styles. You can see below 18 different designers all opted for unkept styles. Is this a new trend?

Givenchy FW2013

Givenchy was quite masculine this season; taking cues from sports and the use of black leather, Riccardo Tisci delivered a manly collection for F/W 2013.
The whole collection was quite dark but not in a depressing sense, more in an mysterious, intimidating feel.

There were several trends throughout the show starting with leather! Leather was seen throughout the show but most predominately in these outfits...

NEXT, the leather continued but it was used a bit differently. The coat wasn't used as a singular piece in the show, it was more of a styling choice that required the leather coats. You can see the coats tied around the models' waist here...

Here was a big hint at the sporting inspirations

(it even started getting into the infamous prints but more on these later)

The coats weren't only in leather but they were also woven as well. I think the weave of the coat gives it a more approachable kind of look for a more daily style.

AND NOW HERE ARE THE PRINTED TEES! Everyone loves these tees so much, Givenchy is known for this. The prints are visually pleasing from far away but when you get closer, you can see what the print actually is. It's still a very striking image but Tisci went for a provocative vibe this season.

Riccardo Tisci was quoted as saying, "It's an obsession of sports, sexuality, hard sex, and ... everything that relates to America in a very dark way" about this season's collection. You can certainly see all of those themes in Givenchy's Fall/Winter Menswear 2013 collection.
While I loved this collection, I am a big fan of Riccardo Tisci's work for Givenchy so I am a little biased… What did you think about this collection? I'd love to hear.

Yohji Yamamoto Spring 2013

Yohji Yamamoto was cool this season. I know I'm late but just enjoy the show....

dirty, yet sexy

loving this necklace, statement pieces are always a need!

Yamamoto stayed in his usual aesthetic for Spring 2013, and I loved it anyways!
Leave a comment below on what you thought! I promise I'm going to start updating this blog more. So sorry for not updating lately.

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2013

This show summed up into 2 words was imitation & sex.
Jean Paul Gaultier was on point this season; he gave looks from Annie Lennox to David Bowie to Madonna to Boy George. That's a lot for one fashion show and his runway was the same darker visual scheme we've seen so many times before.

Comme Des Garçons Spring 2013

The Haus of Comme Des Garçons got crazy this season! Their designs are always wacky but this season's motto was "MORE IS MORE". I was in love as usual, look!!!

That hat!

That weave!

Mugler Spring 2013

Disclaimer: Nicola Formichetti is my idol and can do no wrong and this article will be biased because everything Nicola touches turns to gold.

Spring 2013 for Mugler was a great season. The wearability of Mugler is surprising due to the design-filled pieces but it's definitely there. I could see any girl wearing Mugler Spring 2013 walking down the street. She would be the cutest girl in that town but I could see it.

This skirt gives me life.

They did a lot of two-toned pieces for Spring and I just was tickled pink. It was so fantastic *squealing*

Shanghai Fashion warrior

The one above and below this were probably my two favorite outfits from the whole collection. The print and sheen of the outfits was too cool for school. It was a lot of feelings to handle all at once, I can't even.

And then it got darker (ooooohhhhh)

Obviously, shiny pants are in this season (as if they ever weren't?).
In Lady Gaga's music video for 'Marry The Night', she predicted that mint would be trendy this season. It looks like her prediction is coming truuuueeeeee.

Lindsey Wixson, part time model/part time expression assassin

and here's the video that Nicola edited together, it includes Gaga's new song "Cake Like Lady Gaga"...

Nicola never ceases to impress. And this collection was the same. It was nicely edited (he posted photos to his Instagram of the outfits that were edited out). This was one show that I rally wish I could've been to. :'(

So how'd you like Spring 2013 Mugler? Leave a comment...
